CENTERED RIDING INSTRUCTION
Katy Cassano is an MA Licensed and Centered Riding® Instructor who began her teaching career ten years ago. Katy works with riders of all different ages, abilities, and levels of riding to help them achieve their goals and improve their riding skills. New material is carefully explained and demonstrated, often using visual imagery as a tool to guide understanding.
As a Centered Riding® Instructor, Katy incorporates the fundementals of Centered Riding® in her teaching methods. The "Four Basics" of Centered Riding are:
Soft eyes- Encourage visual and physical awareness, better peripheral vision, and improves "feel".
Breathing- Using the diaphragm and breathing correctly for better posture, relaxation, and energy.
Balance or Building Blocks- Aligns the rider's body for improved balance, straight-ness, and ease of movement.
Centering- Using the center of balance, movement and control, located deep in the body, gives quiet strength, harmony, and power, as in the oriental martial arts.
Furthermore, Katy always puts the safety and comfort of the rider first. She has worked with many students with fear and confidence issues with much success. She always welcomes student's ideas and feedback, as they help her to grow as an instructor.
NATURAL TRAINING
Natural Training builds a horse~human bond between an owner and thier best equine friend.Natural HorsemanShip focus's on how a horse thinks and reacts to in a herd.
A horse and rider must work as a team, and when we do not put in our best, the team is one sided......
"We dont want to be herd leader...we want to be viewed as a herd equal"
Key things in Natural training that Amanda Chickering focus's on are:
Release- punishment for bad behavior only results in a horse thats constantly on the defensive side, a Release for good behavior and willingness is the key to any human~animal bond.
Softness- having a soft horse is a great quality in any discipline. Soft hands encourage a soft mouth and soft aids make riding an enjoyment and avoid a constant struggle.
Willingness- A willing horse relies on thier rider for support, this minimizes spooking, shying and any other undesirable act.
Patients- this always the key when dealing with horses. Patient owners make patient horses. A horse with patience can stand still for any task, and become a safe-sane-and mentally sound horse.
Training sessions: we welcome you to trailer your horse to our farm for training sessions. We also have many reliable, safe and sane horses for non-horse owners to learn with. Reduced rate for boarders.
